Retro Christmas Cards

As you browse through the aisles of Hallmark or American Greetings, looking for wallet prayer cards, one of the things that you might find is that none of them may truly capture the feeling that you want. With so many different choices out there, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed to the point where you’ll just pick anything just to get it over with. Thankfully, with a little over a week before Christmas it’s still not too late to create personalized holiday cards. Not only will it show that you have a flair for creativity, but your wallet will thank you as well.

Whether you are trying to make retro Christmas cards or modern Merry Christmas cards, one of the first things that you will need to do is decide whether you want to use a computer program, like Adobe Photoshop, to create it or if you want to make it by hand. Although you might prefer to hand make it, using a computer program can simplify the process. All you would have to do it open your favorite photo editor, choose an image, add text and you have a personalized holiday card! One important tip that I have for all of you is that you should print it out on a regular sheet of paper before using any glossy or card paper in order to get the dimensions and orientation right. I can’t keep track of how many times that I’ve personally waste card paper because of this!

If you’re planning on making a vintage Christmas lace card however, hand making your card may be your best bet. Take any photo or even an old leftover Christmas card that you may have lying around your house, and prepare it for use. If you’re using an old card, I highly recommend cutting it in half and then wrapping the card with double sided tape. Attach a lace and apply. Another alternative would be to use a hole puncher and crochet around it. Either way is a simple yet fun process, so even kids will be able to do it!

Regardless on your decision to make a card using a computer or if you hand make it, once you’re done, address the card and give it to someone you love. Although buying a Christmas card at a store may be easy and convenient, making a card might just make the holiday season that much more special for the recipient.
